This shows at least two acts of disobedience from a television newscast.

5.) This is a picture that shows McCarthy's act of accusing people of being Communists-

6.) An aritcle that takes an opposing view of McCarthyism: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=YI0jAAAAIBAJ&sjid=bJoFAAAAIBAJ&pg=3613,3841246&dq=mccarthyism+is+wrong&hl=en

#7. McCarthy claimed that he had a list of 205 people in the State Department that were known to be Communist. He argued that some of the people were passing secret information to the Soviet Union. He also attacked President Eisenhower on Nation Television of not acting to eliminate subversives from the Federal Government and that American had been "reduced to the state of whining and whimpering appeasement.

9.) What McCarthy was trying to achieve by accusing all of these people was to wipe out the Communist threat out of the country entirely. He would stop at no point until every possible mention of the Red Scare was gone. He did not succeed, however, as people finally realized that he was also accusing people that weren't doing anything wrong, and stopped him. They were able to do this before he could take out many more people that were falsely accused.

12. After McCarthy's accusations about 600 teachers, actors, and script writers lost their job and were unable to work again. They lost their friends, family, and most prized possesions. Although the biggest effect was the anti-democratic atmosphere that he created.

14.) One example of a piece of literature that was inspired by McCarthyism was The Crucible, a book written by Arthur Miller that was used as a tool to represent that McCarthy was wrong and that you must stand up to this man. A movie that was inspired by McCarthyism was Guilty by Suspicion, directed by Irwin Winkler, which had a very similar story to The Crucible. The main characters both don't want to incriminate their friends, and unfortunately had to suffer for protecting them.

11.) Joseph McCarthy was never incriminated or punished in any way. the real people who were punished were the accused "communists" they lost their jobs, homes, family, freinds, and their lives completely fell apart. althouh joseph mccarthy with his radical claims lost much crediblity and actually ended up hurting the united states because of the spread of anti american ideas and actions.

13.) http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAmccarthyism.htm the list is the last paragraph above the second link.

8.) joseph mcCarthy did not specificly break any laws. but he did assosiate people of or relating to the communist party of being threats to the nation or conducting acts of treason. although this was not against the law because noone was incriminated for being a communist they were harrassed and lost their jobs never to be rehired again just for the connection of being a communist. this goes against the freedom of religion as stated in the constition.
